DR Church De la Bat for the Deaf in Bellville, South Africa
|
Church Affiliation: Reformed
Name of Minister: Dr. Rocco Hough (Hearing)
Number of Deaf Attending: 280
Number of Deaf Leaders: 20
How We Evangelize the Deaf:
We proclaim Jesus Christ as the Son of God, the Savior that forgave our sins on the cross. This we know from the only source we have, the Word of God that teaches us that God forgives sinners, and his grace is enough for us.
Description of Ministry:
The mother tongue of Deaf people is Sign Language, which we use in our congregation to preach, to pray and to sing to God. We communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ and trust the Holy Spirit to work faith in the hearts of our members. Because we are thankful that He saved us, we live for Him, come to the worship service, Bible study groups, camps and witness about his love.
Projects, Needs, Prayer Requests:
We are the first congregation for the Deaf in South Africa and we realize that 400 000 Deaf in our country has no church or Bible that they can understand. We have started a theological seminary for deaf students. Please pray for the evangelization of the Deaf in Africa.

Pastor Emmanuel M. Mwami in Lusaka, Zambia
|
"I have reached out to about 60 deafs in the district although there are also small
boys and girls who do not know sign language. The only way I communicate with them
is I speak the word of God is through use of pictures and objects. The most things
I need now is your prayer and maybe introduce my ministry to those who can be willing
to partner with my ministry for the deaf. The work is very remote in Lusaka where
there is illiteracy, transport problems to health facility, and no clean water."
